Born in New York: The Giants began as a team in New York and became a part of the National League in 1883. The Gothams, as they were known then, experienced early victory, winning the National League pennant in 1888 and the first World Series title that same year against the St. Louis Browns. They had the exact same success the following year, winning both another pennant and World Series title. Their champion performance took a nosedive however, until the signing of John McGraw and some of his teammates from the Baltimore Orioles in 1902. Under McGraw's thirty years of management (and subsequent year-long ownership), the Giants (as they became known) earned ten more National League pennants and four more World Series titles from 1904 to 1933. It would have been amazing to have San Francisco Giants tickets in your hands at the beginning of the century, much like it would be today.

Years of Difficulty: After 1932, new manager/player Bill Terry led the Giants to three more pennants and another World Series championship. They came under new management in 1942 but faced some dificulties during the war. Leo Durocher of the Brooklyn Dodgers became manager of the Giants in the middle of the 1948 season and led the team to two more pennants and a World Series title in 1954. In 1957, the Giants made the move to San Francisco, first playing in Seals Stadium before moving to the gusty winds of Candlestick Park right on San Francisco Bay. The period of time from the early 1960s to the early 1980s was unremarkable for the Giants, though in the 1970s they finished no higher than third in the league. The team's luck seemed to turn around after Roger Craig became field manager in 1985. In 1989, the Giants won the pennant and the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs. Anyone who had San Francisco Giants tickets at the time could probably feel the electricity in the air, watching them play on a field constantly blasted by strong winds.

The Last Few Decades: The 1990s were mediocre at best for the Giants, plagued by injuries, beaurocracy regarding a new stadium, and a player strike in 1994. Tables did turn, however, when new manager Brian Sabean made some strategically-planned trades that proved to be wise decisions, leading the Giants to their first National League West Division title in years. 1999 was the Giants' final season at Candlestick Park, as they began playing at the newly built AT&T Park in downtown San Francisco in 2000. Their first decade in their new stadium was lackluster and once again riddled with losses, various personnel changes and injuries, including for Barry Bonds, who played his last game in 2007. 2003 did look promising with 100 games won and every dy of the season being spent in first place, but the Giants lost to the Florida Marlins during that year's World Series. They made a major turnaround with a World Series victory in 2010 against the Texas Rangers, making the Giants the only team to have won a World Series in three separate centuries. They won their seventh World Series title in 2012, and if you get your San Francisco Giants tickets today, you may see them advance to another championship this season.
